Working directly for the police chief, served as public information officer, community outreach liaison, crime prevention expert/lecturer, social media expert/facilitator, speech/script writer for police chief, Volunteers in Policing coordinator, and other duties as assigned. Managed Crime Analysts Unit and Crime Prevention Unit, including a staff of five. Researched and wrote department's annual report and presented findings to public and other stakeholders. Provided critical incident site assessments to local business (i.e., Orthodox Jewish preschool, live animal laboratories, potential terrorist target businesses, etc). Provided crime prevention training for students, school officials, corporations (large and small) and mock robbery training for banks. Researched and drafted the Department's first social media policy, which was later used by the International Association of Chiefs of Police to draft a standardized policy recommended to police departments internationally. Started the nation's first police department Twitter feed with the specific purpose of communicating with the public. Started one of the nation's first police department Facebook pages to communicate with the public. Started and facilitated the nation's first Library Police Assistant program and subsequently presented the program and its mutually beneficial successes to the national conference of the American Library Association.
