Marketing Manager - Williams, Mathers & Colorado Footwear

Abbotsford, Victoria, Au

My job role at Fusion Retail Brands encompassed the marketing management of 3 brands Mathers (70 stores), Williams (120 stores) and Colorado footwear and 4 ecommerce stores (including a clearance site). I managed a team of up to 8 digital and traditional marketers including visual merchandising, designers, digital and marketing coordinators and a brand manager. My job involved the management and implementation of the annual marketing activity calendars for the 3 footwear brands. The key annual events included Back to School, Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer launches. These events included various media such as TVC, catalogues, radio, EDMs, digital marketing, store VM and POS, local area marketing and press. Digital strategy of the 4 ecommerce sites included weekly promotions and a minimum of 2 EDMs each per week, content updates, social media strategy and some banner advertising. During my time at Fusion I was involved in the management and design of 3 web sites to a new platform and the implementation of a new loyalty programme based on a points system. I worked closely with the cross functional teams to manage and implement the marketing for the 3 brands. These teams included buying, merchandising, planning, customers service and IS. My greatest achievement at Fusion was to create differentiation between the two major brands Mathers and Williams, by undertaking a rebranding project to define the unique brand proposition and target market for each brand. I also proposed and managed the implementation of a new Williams logo, that gave the brand a new contemporary look and feel, without losing the brand's essence and identity to its current customer base.

Marketing Manager - Home, Technology & Beauty Departments

London, London, Gb

Working for Marks & Spencer (M&S) as one of the 12 Marketing Managers was an incredible experience. I feel extremely fortunate to have been mentored by, as well as worked alongside, some of the most accomplished marketers and graphic design talents in London. During my time at M&S I relearnt the role of a Marketing Manager. I learnt about marketing structure, processes, cross-functional management, team management and most of all how to navigate your way through an enormous retail giant to ensure you get the job done successfully, not to mention on time and on budget. I first came into M&S doing what I love best. Hitting the ground running to ensure a major project within the business is launched on time. Having been set the task of launching the new M&S technology department I had to learn quickly and build relationships even quicker. The project required research, strategy and cross functional buy-in before the brief into the design team could even begin. We needed an angle and getting buy-in from marketing, buying, operations and senior management was a task in itself. Seeing the technology department first launch in the Marble Arch store in London, with a dedicated window, gave me a great sense of achievement and satisfaction in my career and belief in my ability as a marketer. Following the launch of M&S Technology I was then given additional departments to manage including beauty, gifting, cards & wrap, gift vouchers and luggage.

Communications Manager

Havant, Hampshire, Gb

Fat Face Clothing was my first experience working for a UK apparel brand. I am still impressed today at the way that they lived and breathe the brand through every touch point throughout the business. Not just the way that they designed and merchandised their stores, their sponsorship strategy or their amazing catalogues shot in exotic locations all over the world, but even their cafeteria and head office had been designed with the brand as the key criteria. There were surf boards as tables, a skate ramp for thinking time and an old VW Van in the reception area. My role was to manage marketing communications and included new product launches, POS, PR, packaging, e-Commerce, advertorials, intranet, seasonal garment label design and production, design briefs, updating the promotional calendar and preparing press releases. I was also set the task of implementing the in-house PR department and training the PR Coordinator on process and execution.

This included trade and consumer bridal exhibitions, catalogue production, photoshoot planning and execution, magazine advertising, regional TVCs, store POS, external store signage, new web sites, PR, sponsorship, budgets and board presentations. Many of the individuals that I worked alongside at Belgravia Formalwear were truly inspiring people who taught me so much about business and integrity.
