I was responsible for identifying the disaster recovery projects that would most enable the valley of Yabucoa to recuperate from being the first municipality hit by Hurricane Maria. I engaged with and interviewed 400+ homeowners where I exercised compassion for and discretion with their stories. With the data I collected, I audited a database of 1,000+ cases to target the community's most vulnerable members. The intake, case management, and prioritization practices I launched thereafter enabled the organization to extend recovery efforts into the following calendar year, broadening the its impact on the region.

Yabucoa, Puerto Rico

I was responsible for coordinating travel, training, scheduling, communication, and reporting logistics for disaster recovery efforts in Puerto Rico.During my entrustment, the southwestern part of the island was hit by an earthquake swarm, rendering 40,000+ residents unhoused or camping outside their homes. While our base of operations and project sites experienced aftershocks and power loss for several days, I was able to coordinate the rerouting of volunteer labor to the affected zone while keeping our hurricane relief efforts on schedule.
