- Polymer Chemistry: I worked on compatibilizers for polymers using various polymerization techniques such as anionic and radical polymerisation to prepare block-copolymers and graft-copolymers (from November 1986 to November 1994). From July to December 2003 I worked at PM-CT on an idea to develop a UV curable coating for breathable applications on fabric. - Organic Chemistry: At DSM Innovative Synthesis I gained experience in a broad range of advanced organic synthetic methodologies, in particular for the synthesis of complex pharmaceutical intermediates. Frequently, various multi-stage syntheses were performed. This included amongst others: peptide couplings, inversion chemistry, bio-catalysed trans-esterification, enzymatic acrylation, oxidations, ligand synthesis, organometallic chemistry. The products were purified and isolated using different methods, including automated chromatography. I am also familiar with routine application of various analysis methods, working in gloveboxes and using Schlenck-line techniques.- Homogeneous Catalysis: In the field of homogeneous catalysis I worked on Heck reactions, Suzuki couplings, aromatic aminations, Ni- catalysed couplings, (asymmetric) hydrogenation, CO-chemistry and oxidations.- HTE-Equipment: I have been working with HTE equipment such as the Endeavor from Argonaut Technologies and the Premex HTS-reactor DH 99-408. For the µ-wave reactor Initiator 60 from Biotage, and the Automated Synthesis Workstation (ASW2000) from Chemspeed I was also responsible as supervisor and instructor.
