About Elizabeth (Liz) Febles
After being in the banking industry for 20+ years I realized that my favorite people to interact with and support are small business owners. That said, once a position opened on First Horizon's SBA team for the Mid-Atlantic region, I was excited to make the switch from commercial lending to SBA lending. My preference for working with the small business segment is likely because I grew up in a small business household.My Dad started his own business in 1972. He tells the story of how he was newly married, first child on the way, and was down to his last $20 when the check came in the mail from his first sale. I appreciate the determination, passion and grit the small business owner has. Dad worked every day, we kids bent resistors while watching cartoons, my mom managed the invoices. In middle and high school, I filled circuit boards with resistors, capacitors, and transistors by hand which I think is where my love of jigsaw puzzles was born. Dad would solder each one individually – a respiratory hazard for sure. We would hand pack each order with styrofoam peanuts and were on a first name basis with the UPS man. While things have become more outsourced or automated over time, my dad at age 87 is still at it with my mom’s assistance.My shift to the SBA role is also driven by my belief that small business owners do not tend to get the level of attention or customer service from the financial sector that they deserve. I'd like to change that by offering patience, guidance, and responsiveness to the small business segment. SBA Lending is complicated, please use me as a resource. I am here to answer any exploratory questions you or your clients/prospects may have as well as get SBA opportunities across the finish line.
