◦ Tor is the largest specialty publisher of science fiction and fantasy in the world, and has won the Locus Magazine poll for Best Science Fiction Publisher every year since 1988.• Acquire and edit profitable and critically acclaimed science fiction and fantasy projects, including books by established authors (Catherynne Valente, Felix Gilman, Jeff VanderMeer, Ben Bova, Dave Duncan), career launches (Cherie Priest, Mary Robinette Kowal, Lev Rosen, Brian Slattery), graphic novels (Fred Chao, Jared Axelrod), translated works (Liu Cixin/Ken Liu, Thomas Olde Heuvelt), and package updates (Suzy McKee Charnas, Harry Harrison)• Edit original projects in collaboration with the author, ranging from developmental and plot to line edits• Manage publishing projects over the life cycle of book (usually 2-3 years)• Present projects to other departments (sales copy and presentations, title information, editorial tapings) and the outside world (blurb campaigns, bookseller and reviewer letters, helping w/ publicity and marketing plans)• Learn and use publishing technologies such as metadata and content management systems, digital asset management, data reporting outlets, and digital libraries• Seek out and evaluate submissions from authors and agents for strength, salability, suitability to the Tor list and SF market at large• Estimate potential profit and loss profile for desirable projects and negotiate contracts suited to Tor’s financial stake• Establish and maintain relationships with prominent SF authors, agents, editors, booksellers, and reviewers• Maintain knowledge of the SF industry, publishing in general, and implications of developing technologies and trends• Represent Tor and myself to the SF community at ~12 conventions and writers conferences a year, including moderating and speaking on panels, teaching classes, taking pitches, planning events and parties• 2013: Handed off most assisting, but retained some demanding or technical tasks for established authors

Today it is one of the top two web communities for SF readers with appx. one million unique views per month.• May 2010: Named co-fiction editor. Acquire and edit 4-5 short fiction pieces per year, as well as developing open submissions protocol and managing slush reading team. Stepped back from day-to-day running of site• 6/08: Site launch. Over the next 2-3 years, helped guide the direction and design of the site. This included developing and running Tor.com’s first theme month (Steampunk Month, 10/09) by curating content and sourcing and managing non-fiction freelance writers, which set a record monthly traffic high. These theme months/weeks are a highly successful model that is still in regular use by the site• 11/07: Recruited to work on the site.
