About Liz Krane

I love learning and making (and breaking) things, regardless of the subject matter. If it involves a challenge and an opportunity to discover something new, then count me in! My background is in writing / communication, but along the way I've fallen in love with tech and computer science. I founded the Learn Teach Code meetup group while teaching myself programming, and it's become the 2nd largest tech meetup in SoCal with over 10,400 members. Aside from freelance web dev work, my other big adventure was in 2018-2019, teaching several cohorts of my own eight-week mini programming bootcamp and developing an open-source curriculum based on students' feedback. In 2019 I worked full-time at Sentry.io as their developer advocate, combining what I've learned from all of the above: writing blog posts and sample code to teach developers how best to use their product, speaking at tech conferences, and running local events. As for what's next: I'm always looking for more opportunities to collaborate with great people! My dream project is anything that allows me to create new things and wear multiple hats, because I love digging into every aspect of a project from start to finish. (And I also love hats!) Current hobbies: rock climbing, classical piano, relearning math and conquering my mathphobia. Past hobbies include learning Japanese, science writing, graphic design, and playing around with video editing and animation/motion graphics to make a few educational YouTube videos about my favorite hobby of all: trying to learn everything!
