As the Senior Family Clerk I was responsible for the running of the business activities and administration of chambers, in particular for the Family Team, including:Diary Management:- Administration of diary bookings and allocation of work to counsel.- Regular analysis of the diary to source possible conflicts or problems.- Organisation and administration of sitting days for counsel employed as part time Judges.Financial Management:- Negotiation, agreement and the billing of private fees.- Billing of all types of publicly funded cases including Family Graduated Fees Scheme (FGF), Family Advocacy Scheme (FAS), escaped cases (non FGF/FAS) and High Costs cases (VHCC).- Implementation of fee structures for counsel.Marketing and finding new business:- Completion of tender documents for Local Authorities on behalf of Family Team.- Organisation and implementation of annual CPD Seminar Programme for the Family Team.- Point of contact and face of chambers at marketing events.- Analysis of seminar feedback and adjustments thereto. - Design and production of promotional material.- Promotion of all members of the Family Team, including pupils, newly qualified tenants and external newcomers.- Research into areas of work and locations for new business.Career progression:- Guidance to pupils and newly qualified tenants on areas of work.- Regular appraisals with Counsel in relation to workload, client feedback and fee structures.Recruitment:- Assistant to Practice Manager and Board of Directors in recruitment of staff and Barristers, including pupils and external applicants.- Production of Job Descriptions for staff.- Point of contact for recruitment agencies and applicants.
