Liz Watson Email and Phone Number
I am dedicated to ending climate change and biodiversity loss through operational excellence.I'm an Operations Specialist with experience leading projects and optimizing processes. I leverage analytical and communication skills, attention to detail and cross-functional collaboration to drive conservation solutions.I want to make an impact by helping others make an impact. You might be saying "Hey, wait a minute, Liz... but, you worked at a utility company. Are you really a tree hugger?" Ok, I admit that I discovered my passion for environmental sustainability after I started there. They were a good employer which helped me financially support my family. (Husband, daughter, son, cat & dog... if you were wondering). When you learn more, you make different decisions. So, when I realized that I was not setting a good example by staying in a stagnant role in an industry that didn't match my values, I made the decision to leave. No safety net. Just jumped. Then, I got a safety net - that's another story.I started networking. I had never prioritized that because my 'customers' were my fellow employees. Lesson learned. There was another world out there - small business - and I fell in love. The small biz owners I met were the most joyful and supportive people. I gained the confidence to start my own business and found a community of like-minded folks (aka project & process geeks) in the Director of Operations program to help me step up. (thanks, Natalie)A fun ride it was. I came across an opportunity to bring on a client that needed a full time project manager for 3 months. But, if I did that, I wouldn't have time for other clients. Based on some great advice (thanks, Pat), I went for it and fell in love. I said I wouldn't be an employee again. Never say never. Serving historically excluded entrepreneurs through Hello Seven allowed me to continue making an impact. I learned so much about running a business and about myself. I was fortunate to work with an amazing group of folks that brought their full selves to work.It was time to take a break. A long one. I had never taken off more than one week at a time. I decided to prioritize myself and resign my position. I am happiest in the woods or kayaking, so I spent hours every day outside. It confirmed that I needed to dedicate the remainder of my career to saving the wonderful lands and waters that provided me the space to just breathe.I’m continuing to learn and grow. The next right opportunity is on the way. Thanks for stopping by.
