Hi, my name is Lizz. 🙋‍♀️ I’m a worldschooling mom of 15 year old twins 👩‍👧‍👧. I'm also a digital nomad 💻, entrepreneur 👩‍💻 and passionate about traveling. ✈️🚅🚕My twins and I have been traveling 🧳🎒 nearly full-time for over 7 years visiting or living in 20 different countries. 🌎🌍🌏 In my lifetime I’ve personally traveled to nearly 50 countries, mostly pre kids. My kids and I are Worldschoolers 🌏🎓 and learn 🧠 from our surroundings while traveling the world. 🌎My girls have learned in a variety of ways including unschooling / self-directed learning 🔍, attending local schools 🏫 in Peru and Mexico, via tutors and spanish-speaking nannies, participating in worldschool hubs and for a few years they attended an online global school 💻🌏🧠 that I helped launch. After working 70-110 hours a week for 6 years to launch and operate PlayHappy Café and PlayHappy Preschool, sold the Seattle area brick and mortar business to travel the world with twin daughters and explore the digital nomad lifestyle. So far have traveled to 20 countries over a 7+ year period throughout Asia, Europe and Latin America, all while worldschooling (similar to homeschooling but the world is the classroom), immersing ourselves into the local culture and learning/ improving Spanish. Also learned how to become a location independent entrepreneur, launched an Ecommerce business, consulted other digital nomads on their sales and marketing efforts, taught English online, helped launch an online global school / edtech company and hosted a teen worldschool hub. Prefer to slow travel, staying for 3-6 months in one location as well as spending time in home base in Seattle, WA, USA.

Director of Galileo’s Local Dojo Partnerships project. Conceived and launched the project, then created partnerships with entrepreneurial educators around the world who had physical, in-person self-directed learning centers, microschools or worldschool hubs, that partnered with Galileo, the online global self-directed education program and community that has students in over 30+ countries. The idea was for students to have the best of both online and offline worlds. And traveling and worldschooling families would be able to hop around the world visiting them all. Worked with over 50 edupreneurs who were in the process of launching these Local Dojos (that's what we called these small learning centers) in various areas of the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Romania, Slovakia, Kenya, India, Singapore, Tokyo and Bangkok. About ten of them went live and were offering hybrid learning with Galileo. • Launched from scratch an award winning, highly rated, family-friendly and community focused play café and preschool (See playhappycafe.com or facebook.com/ playhappycafe for more info.)• Exceeded sales goal by 17% within the first year and 20% by year two. • Designed the 8,600 square foot venue that included: --- a large and imaginative indoor play space --- a healthy foods cafe with seating for 60 --- three upscale birthday party rooms --- a play-based preschool/ summer camp program--- hosting of many educational and enrichment classes as well as holiday events.• Conceptualized almost every detail of PlayHappy Cafe and wrote 60+ page business plan.• Persisted and successfully raised small business capital after 15 commercial bank loan rejections during national credit crunch.• Scouted 40 locations, secured space and negotiated 6-year lease with landlord.• Designed floor plan, play area, menu, website and worked closely with architect, kitchen designer, contractor and graphic/art team to build out the space within 5 months.• Worked closely with small business advisors, bookkeeper, CPA, attorneys, vendors and employees to ensure a smooth launch and operations.• Operated as General Manager and managed a team of up to 20 full and part-time employees.• Handled all marketing, business development, operations, vendor contracts, cash flow and HR matters.• Formed Strategic Partnerships with other like-minded businesses and organizations.• Won or was runner up for many awards from local and national press (ie. Best Indoor Playspace, Family Restaurant/Cafe, Kid-Friendly Coffee Shop, Birthday Venues and Mom-Run Business.) • Sold business May 2016 to travel the world with my twin daughters and launch an online business.

Spent 2+ years researching the play café industry, interviewing and learning best practices from dozens of other play café owners across the world, managing an invite-only Facebook play industry group, attending 50+ entrepreneurial workshops, working closely with multiple advisers and gaining valuable industry related work experience by working or volunteering at a healthy foods café and play cafés. My thoroughly researched business plan was scrutinized by multiple banks, business advisors and the SBA and deemed to be feasible. Despite the tight credit market, PlayHappy Café secured a small business loan and launched in 2012.
