PhD student in Prof Nick Le Brun's group working on understanding mechanisms of cluster loss in Rrf2 transcriptional regulators that bind iron-sulfur clusters. Techniques include: protein purification, UV-visible spectroscopy, CD spectroscopy, non-denaturing (native) ESI mass spectrometry, liquid-chromatography mass spectrometry (LCMS), and DNA-protein binding assays, including electrophoretic mobility shift assays (EMSA) and surface plasmon resonance (SPR).Supervised two final year undergraduate project students, who completed 6-month long research projects under my supervision.Participated and led several outreach activities aimed at encouraging students to study STEM subjects at university.

Assisting with various Chemistry and Biochemistry undergraduate practical laboratory sessions, engaging with students to ensure understanding and safe working practices. Responsibilities also included marking of laboratory reports.

Member of organising committee for the Norwich Research Park Doctoral Training Partnership (NRPDTP) 2022 summer conference. Responsibilities included finding and contacting potential conference speakers, attending planning meetings, planning and contacting a workshop organiser for 200 people.

Volunteering for Pint of Science to organise events in Norwich for a 3 day festival in 2020, 2021 (online) and 2023. Responsibilities involved working within the 'Planet Earth' team to contact potential speakers, secure venues, planning event schedule, marketing events, and hosting events (2023).

As part of my PhD, I undertook a 3 month Professional Internship for PhD Students (PIPS) placement at Leaf Expression Systems.Here I assisted with large scale protein purification of proteins expressed in plant systems. I gained experience in using multiple AKTA systems (Avant and Pure) and the Unicorn software, as well as antibody purification protocols. Purified proteins were characterised by SDS-PAGE, western blotting, colorometric assays, thermal shift assays and ELISA assays.

Ran a pre-designed course for two groups of 13-14 year olds over 7 weeks, looking at antibiotics and solutions to antibiotic resistance, leading them to be able to write their own independent essay at the end of the course. Responsibilities included planning and leading weekly sessions to meet the course objectives, marking homework and end point assessment, as well as providing individual feedback,

Worked as an Explainer, I worked in several different galleries aimed at different ages, interacting with members of the public to engage with the exhibits and facilitating discussion.
