With over four years of experience as a data analyst and a GIS specialist and over eight years working in health science research, I am passionate about finding solutions to public health challenges using data analysis and spatial methods. I have a dual Master's degree in Public Health and International Development from the University of Pittsburgh, where I specialized in human security and infectious disease microbiology. I also have professional certificates in Global Health and Global Studies, and a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from the University of Toronto.As a Surveillance Analyst GIS at the BC Centre for Disease Control, I acquire, process, and summarize surveillance, geographic, and climate data from diverse sources, using R, SQL, and ArcGIS tools. I develop and maintain data collection and recording systems, including databases, spreadsheets, and websites, and plan system development, enhancement, upgrades, and maintenance. I also identify and use analytic reporting tools for data visualization and dashboard creation. In addition, I teach the Population Health and GIS course at the University of Victoria Continuing Studies, where I share my knowledge and skills on how to incorporate geographic data into health research and practice. I am a skilled communicator, an effective problem-solver, and a strong leader, with multiple awards and publications in my field.
