As a Team Leader, I managed a shift team of 16 Production Operators and 1 Process Artisan (Millwright) working in different process areas within the brewing department - Malt intake, Brewhouse, Cellars and Filtration. Roles & Responsibilities: 1. Ensuring and driving Safety First Principle of team members – PPE compliance - and process equipment.2. Driving plant cleanliness (Food safety) and hygiene through 5S. 3. Driving Preventative and Continuous Maintenance for equipment performance. 4. Manage, Coach and Co-ordinate the team to deliver the expected and committed goals as defined and agreed by the business.5. Performance Management through One-on-One engagement, Individual Development Plans (IDPs), Performance reviews, IR disciplinary through competency acquisition process (CAP/SKAP). 6. Ensure the process is ran according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for consistent performance indicators.7. Use VPO tools for Problem Solving (QFRs and 5 Why).8. Ensure implementation of standard work practices as outlined by our World Class Manufacturing System (Voyager Plant Optimisation). 9. Planning of resources and shift complement (leave, sick leave) and changing of shift patterns to meet business requirements. 10. Developing long-term training plan of production operators rotation to meet a required threex3 Skills Matrix. 11. Processing of Time and Attendance (T&A) on SAP to ensure that all employees are paid accordingly. 12. Driving the team to raise suggestions and implement cost saving initiatives to minimise waste and improve the ways of working (Great Idea System). 13. Ensure Plant start up and shutdown procedures are adhered and issuing of Permit to work to both internal employees and contractors (Confined space, hot work, working at height and new projects.

An introduction to Brewing Theory as well as the Practical side and this involved learning the Manufacturing Ways System (Lean Six Sigma principles –VPO - to achieve various Key Performing Indicators (KPI). This was achieved through: 1. Rotating all departments to understand business value chain (Safety, Quality, Water Treatment, Raw material, Brewing, Packaging, Warehouse, Engineering (Maintenance), Systems, Finance and Utilities). 2. Acting as an Area Manager/Specialist when required for development purposes.3. Auditing, benchmarking, and solving problems in innovative ways.4. Exposure to cost and quality targets through daily reporting and management.5. Complete small projects that add value to the brewery.
