Prior to starting Tech-K.O. with partner Bob Oliver, Linda Klaamas was a strategic advisor and environmental writer, specializing in environmental stories. She prepared articles on environmental, energy and Aboriginal issues for the legal community and worked closely with Pollution Probe on topics that included electric vehicles, energy systems literacy and toxic substances.Before setting out on her own, Linda was a senior policy advisor at Environment Canada, first as a member of Canada’s delegation to international climate change negotiations, including the Bonn Agreement and the Marrakech Accords, and as the Climate Change Bureau’s lead on the Canada-U.S. climate change file. Linda then became the manager of the federal government’s Great Lakes Environment Office and the Canadian secretariat of the Canada-U.S. negotiations on amendments to the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement.Linda began her career as an associate in private practice with Dr. Dianne Saxe, former Environmental Commissioner of Ontario and current Toronto City Councillor, at her boutique environmental law firm in Toronto.Linda has an AB in International Environmental Studies from Harvard University and while there founded WorldMUN (www.worldmun.org); an LLB with a certificate specialization in environmental law and an MPA with a focus in environmental policy from Dalhousie University; and an LLM in International Environmental Law from the University of Edinburgh. She is fluent in English, French and Estonian.In her spare time, Linda has been a national newspaper columnist, magazine writer, screenwriter for two film shorts and a stand-up comedian.
