As a fellow within the MSCA-ITN OrganoVIR, I developed and applied patient-derived organoids and engineered cell lines to investigate the cross-tissue and cross-species infectivity of coronaviruses.● Managed 2 research projects on the development and application of patient-derived organoids and lentivirus-modified cell lines as human coronavirus infection models. The projects were carried out in active collaborations with both internal and international collaborators resulting in 2 published scientific articles and 1 upcoming article currently under review. ● Supervised 2 interning Master students intheir theses projects, instructing them on carrying out assays involving human tissue and infectious materials to ensure safety, attention to detail, and adherence to bioethical and Biosafety level 2 protocols. Established close working rapport which resulted in a research publication with the students as a co-author.● Successfully established and implemented changes in laboratory standard operations protocol which prevented further incidence of mycoplasma contamination of tissue cultures in the lab, significantly reducing delays, costs, and generation of invalid experimental data.● Daily management and maintenance of lab operations and inventory, including electronic documentation of data, protocols, and cell bank using combinations of MS Powerpoint, MS Word, MS Excel, and OneNote.

As a research and educational staff, I collaborated in two projects on the development of a mouse model of brain ischemia (stroke) and on understanding the role of vitamin K in lipid metabolism. I also assisted in teaching and mentoring of students in the lab carrying out their research projects.● Coordinated several interdisciplinary research projects under the guidance of principal investigator and senior scientists, resulting in a conference presentation and a scientific publication.● Executed in vitro and in vivo assays with minimal supervision, exercising independent judgment in carrying out assays, data analyses, and record keeping under set guidance and standards.● Taught, trained, and guided students on usage of lab instruments and assay implementations with working communication in both Japanese and English. Assisted principal investigator and senior scientists in mentoring and supervising final year students in their thesis projects. ● General laboratory maintenance and management of laboratory operations

Project: ”Host-virus interaction between Hepatitis C Non-structural Protein 5 and human Raf protein” Roles:- Assisting and performing various molecular biology and biochemical assays, particularly recombinant protein expression assays.- Conducted plasmid-based gene cloning and expression of Hepatitis C virus NS5A, as well as human Raf-1. - Maintenance and passaging of human cell lines HEK293 and 293T.- Worked under Biosafety level 2+ conditions with experience in handling infectious materials - Basic maintenance and administration of a P1/Biosafety level 1 laboratory.

- Project: ” Evaluation of early response to imatinib in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST)”- Investigated the effect of acute imatinib administration on NMRI nude mice grafted with human GIST cells - Ex vivo evaluation of the changes in phosphorylation pattern of KIT signalling pathway components in GIST cells in response to acute imatinib administration using Western Blot and chemiluminescence measurement.
