Who is Larry and why is he so happy? Well first of all, he and his family live in Polynesia, on the Garden Isle of Kauai. While they love their island, they also love spending time every year in their home away from home… Aotearoa (New Zealand). One day while on a trip to New Zealand, Larry heard the phrase “Happy as Larry” or simply “Happy as”. It turns out that this is a common saying all over commonwealth countries such as Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and England. When he heard this saying he immediately thought to himself what an awesome name for his new sunscreen. Everyone down under knows the meaning of “Happy as Larry”… a saying that means really stoked… happy as! Being “happy as” for Larry is all about the love for his family and especially his daughter Lia. Lia has suffered from sensitive skin and allergies her whole life. Just about anything she put on it would cause a rash or worse. Lia loves the beach, the water, surfing and the outdoors but could not find a sunscreen that wouldn’t do harm to her skin. So just as any good father would do, Larry sought out a sunscreen formula that would protect his little girl without further damaging her skin. As luck would have it, Larry found Erik, a chemist that really knows his stuff. Erik’s formula is so good that it has actually improved and softened her skin.
