As a Navigation Protection Officer at Transport Canada, I am responsible for protecting navigation in Canada’s navigable waters by administering and enforcing the Canadian Navigable Waters Act and the Wrecked, Abandoned or Hazardous Vessels Act. My duties include:- Approving and setting terms and conditions for works in navigable waters that may interfere with navigation for commercial or recreational purposes, or for Indigenous peoples exercising their rights.- Managing obstructions in navigable waters that may pose a hazard or impede navigation, such as non-compliant works, wrecks, abandoned works, abandoned vessels.- Enforcing the regulations for private buoys.- Contracting marine operators for removal of works that are unlawful under the Canadian Navigable Waters Act. I have successfully completed the assessment of hundreds of works involving aquaculture facilities, marinas, hydroelectric dams, aerial crossings, bridges, among many others. I have also received my Small Vessel Operator Proficiency, Marine Emergency Duties certificate, and Radio Operator Certificate - Marine. I have demonstrated strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills in my daily work.

I oversaw the implementation of Canada Post's 2.0 Community Mailbox Project in 3 municipalities, 2 of which to their post-implementation phase. Upon completion of 2015 office implementations, the projects I've led will amount to $2.1m in annual savings for Canada Post on top of another $800k in savings from siting work done on other cities. In total, I laid the ground work for nearly 20 municipalities. A key initiative was aimed at modernizing mail delivery in communities across the country. In this role I worked closely with stakeholders including community leaders, municipal officials, and other Canada Post teams to ensure a smooth and effective rollout of the project. I developed strong project management and communication skills and was able to effective navigate complex logistical challenges to ensure that the project was completed on time and within budget. Through my experience on this initiative, I gained valuable insights into the importance of community engagement and stakeholder management, and am proud to have played a key role in advancing Canada Post's mission of providing reliable and innovative delivery services to Canadians.

At Canada Post, I've worked to implement one of the largest projects in the company's history. The door-to-door conversion project was designed to create a financially sustainable crown corporation through efficient planning and adjusting to future customer needs.Annually, I oversaw at least one municipality where I site mailboxes, handle customer relations, liaise with municipal planners and engineers, issue work orders and inspect the final installations. I ensured that our siting guidelines are met and that the concerns of our customers, planners, engineers, and other parties are addressed. Through Canada Post I've been able to put skills learned previously to great use. I've had the opportunity to use basic scripting to maximize my work productivity. I've also gained experience in troubleshooting, time management, and increased my knowledge of how larger corporate structures work. I've honed my researching skills as smaller cities often lacked data required for planning on our end, e.g. senior housing, traffic flow, and business and housing density. This was also necessary for pre-planning cities that had yet to be announced or cities I was requested to complete pilot projects for.

Grouse Mountain Resorts Ltd.

I worked in a group of 3 to redesign Grouse Mountain's snowshoe trail map. This assignment involved gathering field data by snowshoeing the trials, creating a tourism-based map, and creating a technical map with vertical profile. From that, we built a basic brochure layout for their marketing team to finalize.

UBCC350 is a group of dedicated UBC faculty, staff, and students that use political action to address climate change. My volunteering time with UBCC350 was a significant portion of my course work for my Social Mobilization and Advocacy of Climate Sustainability class. When my availability opens up, I will likely volunteer more for this as I had previously suggested a possible spatial analysis could be done to focus efforts on certain voting districts.My main job was organizing data in NationBuilder and assisting with data entry.

I also managed payrolls and billing between instructors, renters, and students. When instructors were unavailable, I lent my expertise to students and tutored, helped with flight plans, and navigation.
