Giving guided tours to groups of visitors through the BMW Motor plant in Steyr. Offering interesting and technical information about the produced diesel engines, petrol power units, the production, logistic and assembly systems to the visitors.

The main goal of this project was to solve the problem that too little parts arrive at the production line. Parts are counted or weighed in the storage and then transported to the production line. By using Six Sigma methods (SIPOC, p-Map, C&E Matrix, FMEA, part-to-part-analysis) disturbing factors have been detected and eliminated. As a conclusion, all primary parts are now classified in different weight classes and connected to reference quantities so secure a smooth supply of parts.

Due to the restricted space in the warehouse Lenzing was looking for opportunities to optimize the day -to-day business. The main task was to analyse and document the processes of the warehouse. After the analysis potentials have been detected, calculated and recommendation for action have been given.

During this internship, I was working in the logistic and material planning department for Porsche Motorsport. I was responsible for the monitoring of delivery dates for the serial production of race cars. Other administrative activities as evaluations of the warehouse by using SAP tools and organizing urgent part deliveries to the circuits have been part of the internship as well. The internship gave me the opportunity to get a deeper understanding of SAP by using SAP ERP (module MM) for daily business.
