As a business major with a concentration in finance, my coursework and case study experience provided me with a strong knowledge base in business management, finance, and other core functional areas of business. This is how the Max. M. Fisher College of Business catalog will describe my academic experience. But what I really learned in the business program is the following:• Business is built on relationships. The relationships I’ve built are strong because I pay attention to people, I am thoughtful and genuinely care about friends, family as well as project team members.• Defend points of view with facts. I look to the data to defend my ideas.• Communicate. Communicate. Communicate. I listen to understand points of view that are different from mine. I ask questions, share information and, because I challenge myself and others, I excel at small group discussion facilitation.• Use common sense. I’m realistic, sensible, practical, and use these skills to problem-solve.I am a person with energy and conviction. Regardless of the obstacles, I accomplish what I set out to do because it’s a commitment I made.
