  • Eames Collection Llc
    Registrar
Eames Collection Llc Dec 2012 - Present
    Los Angeles, Ca, Us
I worked on the loan of special Eames archival material for THE WORLD OF CHARLES & RAY EAMES exhibit that opened at the Barbican in England in 2015 and continued to the Bildmuseet in Sweden, MAAT in Portugal, C-mine in Belgium, Vitra Design Museum in Germany, The Henry Ford in Michigan and finished at the Oakland Museum of California in February, 2019. This exhibit included prototypes, props from films, furniture, short films, photography, and architecture. I have also worked on and continue to work on projects with LACMA, SFMOMA, Denver Art Museum, Milwaukee Art Museum, Pasadena Arts Center, The California Museum, the Bechtler Museum, and ArtScience Museum in Singapore. As the digital age accelerates, the value in the analog of vintage material has increased exponentially.
  • Demetrios & Eames
    Principal
    Demetrios & Eames 2000 - Present
I have been a bronze sculptor for over twenty years. I make mainly in bronze material sculptures for contemplative retreats set in homes, private gardens and corporate spaces. I often begin a series by making small wood maquettes and then fabricating in bronze in my studio. The Lunar Asparagus Series and the Titan Series, ranging in scale from 12 inches to 10 feet tall in both indoor and outdoor settings, are often made in pairs or trios. And the negative space between them is like an additional sculpture - a conversation between them.I have also had an ongoing interest in portraying time in sculpture like in textured layers of the earth in the Inner Core Sample Series, or showing something happening over time like the Bouncing Ball Series. In 2013 at The California Museum in Sacramento, my sculpture and my mother's designs were part of an exhibit titled EAMES GENERATIONS: A LEGACY OF CALIFORNIA DESIGN. Earlier in 2015 my sculptures were part of the work of three generations of Eameses in the exhibit WORK & PLAY - THE EAMES APPROACH at The Petaluma Arts Center.
  • Eames Office
Presenter Of 'Powers Of 10 Today' Workshop
    Eames Office 2006 - Present
Understanding scale helps a person make better decisions as an individual and as a global citizen. What impacts us today are mostly matters of scale: tipping points, nanotechnology, GPS systems, cell phones, digital cameras… Scale is not just how big or how small something is — it is the relative size of things — how much bigger or how much smaller something is as compared to something else. In a Powers of Ten workshop, thinking in both smaller and larger scales helps the designer or architect respond to the specific needs of the client, as each has their own unique list. A Powers of Ten workshop at a school brings out the artistic side out of the scientific student and the scientific side out of the artistic student.
  • Eames Office
    Archivist
    Eames Office 1992 - Dec 2014
Over the last few years, I have worked on preparations of archival material for exhibits nationally and internationally. As part of the celebration of Ray Eames' centennial, I worked on preparations for the installation of archival material like letters, notes, sketches and photography for the exhibit RAY EAMES: IN THE SPOTLIGHT at the Art Center in Pasadena. The exhibit was from February through May, 2014.Worked with The California Museum in Sacramento with preparations with an exhibit in honor of Ray Eames' centennial in her hometown - which opened in February, 2013. RAY EAMES: A CENTURY OF MODERN DESIGN was a new look at Ray’s life through early, lesser-known works like drawings, paintings and fashion drawings from 1912 to 1941. In 2013 I assisted with the loan to ESSENTIAL EAMES: A HERMAN MILLER EXHIBITION at the ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay in Singapore with over 100 special pieces from the archives - based on Eames Demetrios' An Eames Primer. Also in 2013, I helped with the loan of Eames archival material for the exhibit MID CENTURY MODERN at The Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa, CA in May, 2013. In this exhibit, there were examples of Eames furniture in Charles Schulz's Peanuts comic strips from the 1950-60s. Many people have been introduced to Eames furniture and mid century design at a young age through the comics!
  • Moma
    Archivist
    Moma 1989 - 1992
I worked in the Mies van der Rohe Archive which is part of the Department of Architecture and Design at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. I helped organize and inventory the drawings from Mies van der Rohe's American period into a 14 volume publication with Franz Schulze and George Danforth for Garland Publishing.
