As someone with an unconventional career path I have worn a lot of hats, but my expertise and interest lies firmly within the realms of product. Boot-strapping our B2C start-up from a £50 investment to annual turnover of >£750k in fewer than 4 years forced me to learn a lot about product, stakeholder, brand and community management at a lightning pace. This high-growth setting bred a high-pressure environment, developing my ability to collaborate with partners; even if we had differing visions for our company. Working as a founder at such a young age also meant making a lot of mistakes, with no senior leadership to fall back on. Taking ownership of errors, learning and growing from them was vital to driving company growth and keeping one’s sanity.Moving from start-up to an e-commerce agency as head of digital product cemented many of my skills; client identification, ideating commercial strategy, pitching and on-boarding, and ultimately leading 0-1 development. My leadership qualities evolved vastly in my time at Catalyst as my scope regularly spanned multiple departments - design and branding, web development, social and performance marketing, CRM, production, UX, UI and engineering.Building strong communication skills, effectively managing clients and stakeholders became second nature allowing me to focus on ensuring my teams were achieving their strategic and operational objectives.I am naturally curious and an eager consumer of information in all walks of life, which I believe plays to my advantage in spotting consumer trends early and leveraging these to build relevant products.Outside of work I spent many years competing at national level in triathlon and rowing, I believe these built the foundation for my success in LDNM, but as I have grown older my drive has re-focused from sport to work. I prefer to spend my free time playing football or in the gym, and when the seasons permit, seeking adventure on skis, at the end of a rope or on two wheels.
