The DPW Sergeant Major's (DPW SGM) role is to assist in the planning, coordination and execution of tasks such as facility maintenance, barracks management, special events and is the point of contact for DPW assistance. Assists in the management of environmental requirements and enforce standards if necessary. Monitors single Soldier billets and utilities programs to ensure resources are present and not wasted. Serves as liaison between the military community and civilian employees of DPW. Ensures local Army leaders understand and adhere to strict rules and regulations that apply to constructional contracts.

Be the eyes, ears, voice, and conscience of the Commander across the spectrum of operations. Conduct thorough, objective, and impartial inspections, assessments, and investigations. Provide assistance and training. Advise and assist Army leaders to maintain Army values, readiness, and effectiveness in the promotion of well-being, good order, and discipline.

Served as the principal advisor to the G5 Command Group on the formulation of strategic policies, plans, and programs. Aided in the integration of near, mid, and long-term plans, programs, and resources for the FCoE. Coordinated with the Fort Sill installation staff, post agencies, and local government to foster relations, outsource training, and conduct joint military and civilian events. Integrated programs and policies ensuring the most efficient and effective allocation of staff resources and time.

Squadron Operations Sergeant Major for a Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron of 469 Soldiers, responsible for the deployment and functioning of the Squadron Tactical Operations Center equipment in excess of five million dollars. The Operation Sergeant Major is responsible for disseminating pertinent information and communication requirements to the Squadron staff, Troops, and Companies. The Operations Sergeant Major assists the Squadron Executive Officer in controlling the current battle ensuring tactical operation orders are followed which allows the Squadron Commander to focus on the main effort.

Served as the Command Sergeant Major of a 400 man training battalion that trains over 1,400 military officers quarterly. Established and enforced standards of unit policies pertaining to performance, conduct, appearance, personnel management, and training of enlisted Soldiers. Served as the senior enlisted advisor to the commander that advises and makes recommendations to the commander and staff on all matters pertaining to enlisted Soldier matters and their families' health and welfare. Assists the commander in inspecting command activities, assigned facilities, and personnel.
