Principal Customer Integration EngineerAirvana Sep 2006 - Sep 2010Cambridge, United KingdomOriginally called 3WayNetworks, Airvana prototyped a WCDMA Femto cell, this was the size of ADSL modem and provided a localised home 3G mobile phone base station, allowing your mobile to be offloaded onto your own personnel 3G cell.I started with the company as a development engineer, but we quickly needed someone to run field trials, demonstrations and exhibit the product at tradeshows. In the first stages of the product development the backhaul connections was carried over a VPN link to make it secure. Once, we had the first stages of a product I took it to various customers’ sites around the world to perform field trials, assisting in the configuration and integration of the product into the customer’s mobile network. I then assisted in executing test cases and acceptance tests prior to releasing the product to friendly user trials. One such trial as for QTel in Qatar, where I completed a field trial which progressed onto a live customer trial. As well as the Femto cell trials we also created and demonstrated bespoke 3G solutions, these were used in the security industry and a solution for BAE Systems for creating a wireless network providing video/voice and data connectivity from a command vehicle to individual squad members over 3G -
