My responsibilities fall largely into three categories: 1) day-to-day operations, 2)event management, and 3) artist liaison.Day-to-day operationI handle all monetary matters, including cash transactions, drafting of contracts,application for grants, following up on account payables/receivables, generalaccounting and corporate tax filing. By nature of the gallery’s business, many ofthe above-mentioned include cross-border transactions, especially with India. Inthe course of my work, I have also refined several business processes andstreamlined the gallery’s expenses toward a healthier bottom line.In addition, I also handle all HR matters such as payroll, absence policies andIR8A, and also manage the company secretary in the preparation of documentssuch as annual reports, returns, and AGM/EGM minutes.Event managementI coordinate all logistics for the gallery’s exhibitions at the gallery, and atinternational exhibitions such as India Art Fair and Arts Singapore. This includesmanaging shipment, supervising third party contractors and even curating shows.Artist liaisonI assist the Director in managing the gallery’s relationship with artists both local,such as Ketna Patel and Madhvi, and international, such as Sujata Bajaj, MithuSen, Sohan Qadri, and Tapas Sarkar. This involves contract negotiation,entertainment, and even artwork selection for shows or consignment.
