Lead Product Designer for Tone (https://tone.is) - a division of Stem Disintermedia Inc.Tone brings calm to the chaos, making it easy for music labels to process, track and pay royalties.As Product Design Lead, my role has a strong focus on advocating not only for design best practice in-house, but to care deeply for how our users (musicians and music labels) engage with our platform so that we can set them up for success. Our mission at Tone (and Stem) is to better the lives of those in the music industry, a notoriously complex space to navigate royalty finance. My day-to-day sees me helping deliver solutions that directly solve real world music business challenges. I coordinate with Leadership, Design, Product Owners and Engineers to help improve the ways label managers and royalties experts manage and understand their income sources that are paid out through royalties. Empathy for our customers is key. Delivering results for music labels also means bringing clarity and transparency to their artists so that they can better understand the sources (DSP's) their income is generated from, their existing financial relationship with their labels and importantly, when and how they will be paid.Recently, Tone also underwent a major rebrand. As Product Design Lead, I helped manage the rebuilding of our Design Systems from the ground up to ensure that the new brand was ready to be rolled out both publicly, as well as in-platform. This effort saw me building global design styles, component, pattern and template libraries, managing brand assets, presenting our findings to stakeholders to gain buy in and approvals, as well as participating in working groups with Engineers to help bridge the gap between our teams. Other day-to-day activities include design exploration, presentations, prototyping and high-fidelity designs from mobile to desktop that pairs with great UX.
