Dr. Lloyd Aickin completed his Bachelor of Medical Science degree at UNSW. He completed his Master of Science and Ph.D. at Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI) in the laboratory of Roger Reddel. Currently, he utilizes molecular genetics in fundamental evolutionary biology and biodiversity management. Dr. Aickin’s broad research areas include: evolutionary ecology of parentage, relatedness and group formation; conservation genetics; demography of endangered harvested and invasive species; evolutionary genetics; biodiversity; and the theory of molecular ecology. Together with another UNSW professor, Dr. Aickin has embarked on an ambitious program to test established methods of genetic inference in population genetics. The two researchers hope to include new methods based on information theory.
