Software development for this system was done in Qt, with machine vision software targeting a small embedded computing system. The vision routines were hand coded in this system for maximum performance on the target hardware.Development of a machine vision based dirt measurement system for QS Fibre Inc. Software development for this system was done in Qt and OpenCV. Low level hardware control of this system utilizes a COTS PLC for which I also developed the production code.Development of lab instrumentation and control systems for Hydrovolts hydrokinetic turbines. Lab instrumentation developed in LabView, production systems used low level C code operating on a COTS PLC.Development of the CityTour application highlighting the Intel AppUp location and storage services. This application was demoed during the Intel AppUp 2011 Developer Conference keynote. This application was done in Qt and QML. Update of Xeltron’s color sorting system using the Cypress PSoC processor, and modularization of the system. My specific responsibilities included project management / team lead, software design, software implementation, and hardware design. The update dramatically reduces the production cost of the electronics while increasing both reliability and serviceability of the machine.

At Blue Origin my initial task was updating software for the BE-4 engine controller test system. I then led the design and development for the BE-3U engine controller hardware test system. Responsibilities included system architecture, implementation and team leadership. The system was chosen as the common platform for all other engine programs, beginning with the BE-7 engine. This effort resulted leading a highly interdisciplinary team averaging 10 people covering: hardware, software, mechanical design, program management, systems engineering, production and process control. Software was developed in Rust, C++, C, LabView and Python.At Virgin Orbit I was hired into the Flight Software team where I worked for several months in modern C++. I was then asked to create the Independent Verification and Validation Team for the Automated Flight Safety System. I served as the architect and technical lead for the Python based testing framework used to qualify the AFSS software for flight.Eyefluence was acquired by Google; Continued Eyefluence development work and in addition became the technical and architectural lead for a configurable, low latency, modular framework used for eye tracking prototypes. Bring up / customization of the OV580 USB camera on Linux, Android and Windows platforms. Development of multiple low latency video transport and compression systems on embedded Linux for use in eye tracking applications for Eyefluence. Typical systems involved multiple processors communicating via USB, serial and Bluetooth. Camera configuration and driver work using CSI/MIPI based cameras. Development related to the UI layer, SDK layer, and Linux kernel layers for multiple LeapFrog products. This work also included debugging of the BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) controller hardware, and debugging of the overall system. The UI layer included extensive use Qt and QML, for which I also established the current best practice coding patterns for the organization.
