The studies included in-depth surveys and analyses of corporate needs in a multiplicity of business environments in 30 countries.

As director of this internet start-up, Dr. Baron helped identify new markets and design appropriate business strategies to help the company attain increased market traction. For a short while, Worldbid.com was the largest international B2B and government B2G import-export trade marketplace and directory in the world.

A leading healthcare informatics company based in British Columbia, Healtmetrx specializes in the provision of internet-enabled, quality management systems that are used by medical laboratories and healthcare organizations to assess, monitor, and improve the accuracy and reliability of their diagnostic test results. As director, Dr. Baron was responsible for strategic analysis and corporate planning.

After co-founding the Vancouver-based software company, it was acquired by an LA-based company that went public on sales of a software product that briefly outsold the prevailing version of Windows operating system. After being invited to serve as independent director for the company, Dr. Baron discovered that the company had conducted inadequate QA on the release version of their best-selling software. Dr. Baron used his position as independent director to affect a national and international product recall, negotiate a resolution of the FTC through a consent decree, develop the strategy to manage and ultimately resolve subsequent class-action law suits, introduce standard procedures to avert further QA issues, and introduce management restructuring through a number of measures to preserve the company’s ability to return to the equities market for a significant second offering.

Funded by the Faculty of Medicine, University of British Columbia, and the five teaching hospitals of the Lower Mainland, CAMSI achieved remarkable results in British Columbia's advanced tertiary and quaternary medical research, teaching, and clinic capacity. The project encountered budgetary constraints in its third year of development, despite the fact that projected revenues exceeded the development costs, and our team chose to direct our energies elsewhere.
