Responsible for training manuals for the British Infantry Soldier; this involves formatting submitted text into Quark Xpress and InDesign, creating vector graphics in Illustrator of weapons and ranges, as well as ensuring the photos we receive are of the highest quality, making any required changes in Photoshop. Alongside the static images, I also produce range animations using Flash; these animations are used in the electronic versions of the training manuals. Along with the creation of the training manuals, I ensure that any amendments that come in and promptly dealt with and the relevant pages issued back to the trainers.Further to the training manuals, I am responsible for the creation of The Infantryman, which is an annual journal of soldiers’ stories submitted by them. I was responsible for the original layout, which was given the go ahead by my Line Manager. All image selection is done by me, which also involves photographic montages and full page image backgrounds.Secondary to my main role, I am responsible for the creation and upkeep of over twenty pages of the intranet linked to the Publications department using CMS. I ensure that all relevant data and images are kept up to date and see that all hyperlinks are updated regularly and are always active to pages outside of our department.
