Leading developer on the Navy’s Deployable Mission Support System (DMSS) build team. Designed and implemented a full network monitoring stack utilizing Bro (Zeek), Suricata, and Elastic/Splunk to be leveraged by every Navy Cyber Protection Team (CPT). Led the development of repeatable analytics based on the MITRE ATT&CK framework while working with the Threat Detection and Analytics Working Group (TDAWG). Utilized red team emulation, data science, and MITRE’s Cyber Analytic Repository (CAR) to develop threat hunting analytics for efficient, fast queries of actionable data. Provided sensor placement strategy to customer network owners/administrators.

Utilized knowledge of TCP/IP networking and network protocols to detect, protect, react, and respond to incidents on a customer’s network. Used the MITRE ATT&CK framework to build and identify adversary lifecycle, tactics, techniques, and procedures to forecast adversaries’ next moves, attack vectors, and targets of interest. Completed full scope network assessments using Splunk, Elastic, and Moloch (now Arkime) to execute analysis of Bro (Zeek) logs, Suricata alerts, Windows Sysmon events, and full packet capture.
