I believe that we are blessed to be stewards on this very small and fragile planet, and the more we understand about it, the better off we will be.After a long career in private industry, I am excited to be a Science Teacher at Mountain Ridge Middle School in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.Although new to teaching, I am not new to science. I have a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree, both in Geology. Along the way, I also earned a master’s degree in Business Administration. In addition, I was a professional geologist for a mining company in Idaho, a petroleum company in Denver. I also worked in the high-tech materials science industry, based in Colorado. As an educator, I apply real-world experience to the understanding of physical science following the Next Generation of Science Standards. My students learn and appreciate the concepts and ideas that cut across all disciplines of science and we will know how to recognize them when they show up in our everyday lives. We challenge each other and learn how real scientists think. And we have fun doing it!I continue to volunteer with the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists’ Educational Outreach Committee. You can reach me at lloyd.sobel3229@gmail.com
