After graduating from the University of Liverpool with a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, I have since been working within the Additive Manufacturing (AM) industry. Following my time as an Applications Engineer within the AM department at Renishaw (with my main focuses being on the Laser Powder Bed Fusion technology, Deisgn for AM (DfAM), process simulation, process monitoring and customer consultation), I have since been at the MTC (Coventry) working as a Design for AM - Research Engineer. Here I work with customers and colleagues to research, design and develop optimised geometries for AM.

Continued my development in the AM industry by joining the DfAM team at the MTC. Here I technically led numerous projects and delivered a number of online training courses both internally and externally to numerous industries including aerospace, defense and motorsport.
Applications Engineer - Additive Manufacturing
Additive Manufacturing (AM) Applications Engineer at Renishaw plc, mainly focusing on design for additive manufacturing (DfAM); working alongside customers and colleagues to convert past, current and new designs into high quality AM parts using CAD (NX 10) and various build preparation software (QuantAM and Magics). I have also specialised in simulation, analysing deformation and compensating part geometries to account for thermal distortion using the Simufact Additive FEA software on behalf of numerous customers within the aerospace, medical and automotive industries.
Formula Student Team Leader
Elected Team Leader for the 2017 season by colleagues, staff and alumni. Led a team of 30 undergraduates to design, manufacture, test and assemble a single seat racing car for international competition. The strategy was to implement a radical redesign, with the aim of reducing the overall mass with the introduction of the team's first ever CFC monocoque chassis, outboard suspension, powertrain modifications and low profile Continental tyres.

Carried out an experimental study into the unsteady air temperature due to engine exhaust gases over a ship's helicopter landing deck.
Summer Internship
During the summer I voluntarily decided to do an Electronics project with Mr Ray Davies at the Photonics Academy of Wales. Here I designed, developed and prototyped a laser controlled car, with a view to develop the concept into semi-automated wheelchairs. I managed to reach the prototype stage and had the basis of the vehicle complete, before I went on to begin my studies at University. I very much enjoyed the collaboration between the electronic, photonic and mechanical engineering disciplines.
Production Team Member
At the end of my week's work experience at BEE Robotics, I was offered to work with them on a summer placement. With this being my first role within an engineering environment, I gained invaluable experience such as seeing a product go from design to manufacture, develop essential team working skills and grow an appreciation for the effectiveness of good communication. I returned for another summer placement in 2014, gaining further experience by taking on greater responsibilities.
