I built a North American team and then later a Latin American team of developer advocates. These teams, along with the rest of the DevRel org, generated the largest ever mobile app offering for a brand new device platform the world has ever seen (100,000 apps before one device was in US stores). Three times the nearest competitor (Amazon for Kindle launch was ~30k apps)I was then promoted to a Director level position (Principal Evangelist/Advocate) and asked by senior management to leverage my extensive network in Silicon Valley to:1) Change the hearts and minds of thought leaders, innovators, and decision makers that had influence over mobile platform choice. This included VC's, Angels, Incubators, Industry Executives, Carriers and the Carrier Retail Channels, Government agencies, Press, and Analysts. I spoke at approx. 30 events in 2013. 2) Identify gaps in our platform and find ways to fill those gaps --either through acquisition, 3rd party partnerships, and drive requirements back to the product teams for internal development.

I led a team of senior product managers responsible for core platform APIs on the BlackBerry OS and QNX Tablet OS platforms including BlackBerry Java, Web / HTML5, Native C/C++, BlackBerry's content creation tooling, Theme Studio, and the Android Runtime for BlackBerry.Regarding Android, I was tapped by executive management to take lead on the strategic yet controversial Android Runtime. I defined the necessary platform requirements, presented, defended, and championed the strategy to the whole executive management team including the CTO, evangelized it externally to the Android Developer Audience and drove the launch of the runtime into the market. This platform accounted for about 30% of all apps on BlackBerry 10 a year after launch. Today, all BlackBerry phones run Android.

I was responsible for the Java ME platform for wireless devices for both feature phones and advanced devices. This includes the CLDC/MIDP API stack and (including all MSA optional packages) as well as the CDC/FP/PBP API stack. These products form the foundation of the Java ME platform for mobile devices. Over 80% of all cell phones shipped worldwide during this time contained Java ME.

Virage supplies semiconductor IP to virtually all SoC manufacturers worldwide. I was responsible for a $40M P&L --Virage's largest revenue generating product line (embedded SRAM). This product line contained over 300 distinct types of SRAM from 250nm technologies down through 65nm and across multiple foundries and process types and served OEMs building high speed graphics SoCs, Ultra-Low-Power and mobile SoCs, and High-Density SoCs.

Eyematic had patented, award-winning image recognition software that could find desired patterns in video image streams easily. I productized and launched the company's first product "FaceStation" into the animation content creation market. This product won awards at conferences and shortened animation development time dramatically.Eyematic also had acquired 3D graphics technology ("Shout 3D" from Shout Interactive) and I contributed to our efforts at creating the first MMS (multimedia messaging) app for phones ever launched in North America on Verizon. It was called Shout Messenger.Image recognition IP acquired by Google in 2003

Dejima developed agent-oriented, natural language processing technology applied to intelligent interfaces for mobile and enterprise computing.Acquired by Sybase (rebranded "iAnywhere" because everything sounds better when it starts with a little 'i' doesn't it?)

Raycer was building massively parallel, high end 3D chips for PCs that was going to bring 'Onyx Infinite Reality' performance to your then-state-of-the-art 500 MHz pc.Acquired by Apple in 1999.

This included (Open Inventor, Iris Performer, ImageVision, Cosmo3D, and OpenGL Optimizer).OpenGL Optimizer won "Best Product" award from Computer Graphics Magazine just after launch.

I designed and built an object-oriented animation system that was used by Norman Schwarzkopf's analysts in Desert Storm and subsequently asked to install and train the analysts for the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the US Pentagon

I wrote the entire expression evaluation engine for Nasa's TOPEX/Poseidon satellite. This was an ocean circulations satellite that monitored global temperatures.
