Leonard Marinaccio IV is a published author, award-winning musician, and rising at the University of Florida. His life-long love of sports, observant nature, and never-ending desire to explain the “why” of an action rather than just the “what” make him determined to have a successful career as a sports analyst.In the midst of the pandemic, Leonard worked closely with the Daytona Tortugas as one of their High School Ambassadors to organize events over the summer, including a community-wide beach cleanup. He also spent his senior year developing and organizing 5 charity drives, within CDC guidelines, as an officer of his school’s chapter of the National Honor Society.Leonard continued his involvement in sports when he went to college at the University of Florida. In his first semester he began working towards a Certificate in Sport Management without falling behind in his major or dropping either of his two minors. Leonard then took a part-time position working for the University Athletic Association, where he experienced first-hand the game day operations of a baseball stadium. In this position, Leonard developed his customer service and interpersonal communication skills, providing assistance and information to the thousands of guests that visited Florida Ballpark during the 2022 season. When Leonard went home to Daytona Beach, Florida for the summer, he worked part-time for his local minor-league baseball team: the Daytona Tortugas. His colleagues were all different ages and came from many different backgrounds, which Leonard gratefully took as an opportunity to learn how to collaborate with individuals that have widely varying opinions.Currently, Leonard is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, with minors in Statistics and Philosophy, and a Certificate in Sport Management. He is also independently working towards receiving certification in the coding languages R and Python. He works part-time for the University Athletic Association as an Usher at UF home baseball games, and he is eager for any opportunity to learn and grow in the sports industry.Go Gators!
