Dash provides solutions in four categories: Trading Technologies, Execution Services, Analytics, and Regulatory Technologies. Knowing what I accomplished at Associated Options, LiquidPoint asked me to create a scoring system to determine which engineer was causing late software deliveries. My analysis uncovered a systemic issue relating to how and when new features were prioritized. Changing the project management methodology to allow more fluidity without sacrificing time lost to abandoned items led to the first on-time new software delivery in 12-month period and an extreme decrease in defects per new feature. In addition to my role in engineering, I oversaw the merging of operations when LiquidPoint purchased Associated Options and also when Dash Financial purchased LiquidPoint.

Vice President - OperationsAssociated Options Inc Apr 2010 - Dec 2015I was tasked with getting "operations out of the way" of sales as my first priority at Associated Options. What I found was broken processes, lack of standardization, and very little technology integration. Every transaction (thousands per day) were printed on 5-ply paper (only three of which were "used," manually collated and totaled, and then hand typed into a billing system. All of this was done because the sales team insisted it was the only way to do it. The ops team was drowning. Within a year, the sales team was following a standard procedure, nothing needed to be printed, and transactions were automatically imported digitally. I then moved on to improve other parts of the operation, renegotiating inflated pricing with vendors, digitizing documentation, and creating a "best in class" compliance tracking program (according to industry experts). Associated Options was a broker (IDB) specializing in high-touch option execution on the trading floor of the CBOE. The Associated Options trading floor operation was absorbed by LiquidPoint in December 2015. -
Market Maker - Designated Primary Market Maker GroupG-Bar Limited Partnership Feb 2006 - Oct 2010Chicago, Illinois, UsG-Bar Limited Partnership operates as independent options, and futures trading company and also develops financial software. As a market maker, I managed a multi-million-dollar portfolio of equity options and underlying securities in addition to overseeing group operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, facilities, clearing, and information technology. In addition, I was the liaison between the traders and software developers. I took the specs from the customer and gave them to the engineers. While it is a humerous line from the movie Office Space, having someone who understands both what the trader wanted and how to communicate that to software engineers was extremely important. This is where I learned that even the most specific instructions can be interpreted in many different ways. Having an intermediary "translator" (me) allowed for less "back and forth" and fewer revisions of new features. -
