Reporting to the Senior Vice President for the Office of the President, I assist in the development and implementation of strategic and tactical marketing communication goals, with primary emphasis on growing student enrollment and increasing the brand reputation and visibility of The University of Scranton.I am also responsible for establishing overall objectives, priorities, and strategies related to the content and design of the University web presence, web analytics, social media and digital marketing, and for leading the resulting initiatives. In this role I:• Lead the marketing communications team, consisting of the University Editor & Social Media Manager, Web Developer/Designer, Web Content Strategist, Digital Advertising Manager, the Marketing Communications Assistant, and seven student interns.• Guide the design direction, sitewide improvements and content strategy of University websites. Work with departments to assess and improve site content, effectiveness and usability for target audiences.• Lead development of marketing collateral, creative assets, and digital, traditional, and social media advertising campaigns to support branding and recruitment.• Manage outsourced projects, utilizing external partners to supplement internal resources for print and web design and development, digital and social advertising campaigns, and video production.• Identify emerging market opportunities, trends and technologies with potential to enhance the University’s recruitment and communications efforts and develop strategies to evaluate and implement as appropriate.• Direct the strategic development and use of social media for the University’s primary platforms.• Oversee the conceptual development and production of the Royal News e-newsletter and The Scranton Journal alumni magazine print and web editions.• Coordinate and/or execute market research projects and assist in the promulgation of results.

The Paper Magic Group is a subsidiary of CSS Industries, a consumer products company within the craft, seasonal and celebrations markets that is primarily engaged in the design, manufacture, procurement, distribution, and sale of all occasion and seasonal social expression products, principally to mass market retailers. Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing, I directed two key functional areas - the Craft Product Development group and the Category Management & Market Research department.• Designed and executed numerous consumer internet surveys and focus groups which probed customer buying behaviors and preferences. Analyzed results and developed presentations of key facts for use in sales and marketing strategy and product development.• Member of category management team for Wal-Mart U.S. which consisted of key suppliers in each seasonal category. Developed the template and procedures used by all team members to determine optimal buy quantities and store distribution matrixes.• As part of the key account sales team, I prepared and presented consumer research, market trends, recommended buy plans, and post season sales analysis to buyers for major retail chains, such as Walmart, Target, CVS, and Michaels.• Developed a business plan which presented an analysis of market potential in craft categories relative to Paper Magic's core competencies. This plan was selected as one of three to be funded by our parent company.• Built a craft product line with over 120 sku’s and numerous custom items based on customer requests. In it’s first year the craft category generated over $1 million dollars in sales for the Paper Magic Group.
