At the Wellington City Council I filled a temporary position as an Operations Analyst in a team which covered the alcohol licences and permits throughout the Wellington Region. A primarily data entry role where I used an in-house program as well as Microsoft Suite to work through new manager applications and communicate with clients on the progress of their application.I believe my ability to learn online systems quickly and be able to think on my feet played a key part in my success in this role as I had limited time to come into the team and provide value to the operation as a whole.

I was initially tasked with preparing the Art Gallery's auditorium and conference rooms for client meetings that ranged from seating small groups to large conferences of close to 200 seats. This predominantly included setting up the tables and chairs for the room as well as being the primary caterer for the event.As I gained experience communicating with clients in catering and setting up their meetings I then progressed to being a direct point of contact for enquires regarding their booking at the Gallery. Clients communicated with me to sort out any coordination issues or changes that needed to be made during their visit as well as basic catering and room setup tasks.

As a job back home over Summer in 2019, '20 and '21 I worked in the NCEA sector of Blue Star Petone, in Wellington.At Blue Star I was first assigned basic roles which asked me to complete simple tasks with minimal responsibility. As I gained further experience I began to take on multiple roles and responsibilities which required consistent focus and directly impacted whether the overall job was correctly completed. I regularly worked in a team of around 10 where we bounced ideas off each other and were required to make decisions for ourselves to complete tasks. I loved this type of workplace communication as it encouraged using my initiative and consistent forward thinking. I also led other employees at times and pointed them in the right direction when they weren't quite sure of what to do. I found it very satisfying to start as a beginner in a workplace environment and progress into a higher role over time.
