Working as a member of the Coverity build capture team, responsible for developing low-level, performant solutions to monitor builds of customer software and record the information needed for Coverity to accurately analyze source code. Also responsible for maintaining and improving support for various external systems including operating systems, SCM systems, and build systems that Coverity needs to run on or work with. Some particular achievements: - Developed a deep integration with the Bazel build system to collect build information without relying on traditional process-tracing methods that are blocked by Bazel's sandboxing and remote execution features. - Extended Coverity to build and run on the 64-bit ARM architecture under macOS and Linux, including reworking a number of crucial but old open-source dependencies to support ARM without fully updating these dependencies in any way that would change the characteristics of Coverity between architectures. - Developed an alternative method for collecting build information on macOS based on Apple's Endpoint Security Framework in an effort to improve functionality on newer releases of macOS that restrict traditional process-tracing methods. - Developed a performant and reasonably accurate method for determining which binaries executed during a build are compilers that Coverity should be particularly interested in. - Developed methods to automatically override behaviors of the Gradle build system using the Java ASM bytecode manipulation framework to prevent inadvertently missing out on collecting information on compilation of important source files.
