Generator Technician
CurrentI install, remove, and operate electrical power generating and control systems, automatic transfer switches, aircraft arresting systems, and associated equipment. I checks equipment for serviceability. I positions equipment such as gasoline and diesel engines, generators, switchgears, air compressors, and other power generating auxiliary equipment.I install, position, rewind, and pretension aircraft arresting systems. I also certify aircraft arresting systems as required. I checks installed equipment to ensure compliance with Air Force publications, UFC electrical code, and directives. I inspect tests, and service component systems such as safety, fuel, lubrication, cooling, air pressure, pumps, regulators, governors, and accessory equipment I observe and interpret instruments such as ammeters, voltmeters, frequency meters, synchroscopes, automatic temperature and pressure recorders, and engine oil, fuel, and coolant gauges. I adjust engine generator systems to maintain proper voltage, current frequency, and synchronization. I have the ability to synchronize multiple generators. I operate high and low voltage switches, circuit breakers, rheostats, and other controls on switchgear and distribution panels. I also perform electrical power control and distribution functions. I diligently maintain records. I post entries on operation, inspection, and maintenance records.
