Daniels Academy is a residential treatment center for high school age boys with Autism. In this role I was responsible for 3-5 staff and 12-15 students daily. Rotating daily, there was also one shift lead who was responsible for the overall flow of all three residencies through the school day, about 35 students and 10-12 staff. It was an incredible experience, and I learned many lessons about myself and how I work with others. In my time at Daniels, my work included:- maintaining Line of Sight/Sound on all students- helping students move through their daily routines and complete schoolwork- processing of emotions using DBT techniques- training staff on effective strategies in working with students- using AEGIS for de-escalation and physical safety of students- writing daily reports on students- administering and tracking the administration of student medications- conflict resolution between students, staff, and teachers
