My name is Logan Emory and I’m currently a mechanical engineer at Charles Blalock and Sons. I currently deal with the concrete and asphalt plants that the company owns. While at Milligan University, I studied mechanical engineering and received a minor in Mathematics and Computer Science in May 2024. I first became interested in mechanical engineering after talking to my grandfather about his work experience. My grandfather was a civilian mechanical engineer for the armed forces. Not only did I enjoy the stories that he told, but I found an unusual interest in seeing how things mechanically work. I would find myself taking items apart to see how they would work and putting them back together. Sometimes I would even think of ways on how to improve the thing I had just taken apart. As of now, I am following in my grandpa’s footsteps.As for my work experience, I have worked for three different companies. I at first worked for Taco Bell for about 5 months. However; I had to quit this job since I was heading to college. My second experience was with Lowe’s. In the summer of 2020, I worked in the Outside Lawn and Garden department. In this department from 2020-2023. Before being employed at my current job, I received an internship and worked for the company as a mechanical engineering intern in the summer of 2023. At Milligan University, I maintained a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale while being involved in robotics. The robot, which I helped design and build, was supposed to compete, but the competition was cancelled due to a national pandemic. With this, I have learned how to manage my time efficiently while still having social interaction.
