It is my responsibility to maintain a database detailing how much waste is being produced, and how much gas, water, and electricity is being used by the Hitachi Computer Products facility in Norman, OK. The database I maintain allows my supervisors to make decisions regarding how to reduce the facility’s environmental impact and remain legally compliant. Other responsibilities include taking chemical inventories and maintaining a public display illustrating how we are reducing the facility’s adverse environmental impact. From this internship, I have learned how to conduct myself in a professional environment and how to communicate effectively.

Kanakuk Kampout is a traveling day camp for children ages 5-12. I worked on a leadership team with Kampout for ten weeks in ten different locations in six states. My responsibilities included: leading weekly setup and tear down of all high elements at each new site, performing daily safety inspections, and transporting staff from site to site. The safety inspections I performed included checking all camp activities for any sort of structural damage, improper wiring, or any other sort of hazard that could cause injury. I worked in a high-pressure environment, where, if any injuries/deaths at camp were to occur, I would be primarily to blame. This experience taught me how to perform under pressure, how to be meticulous with my work, and how to lead people effectively.
