Through all my experiences from school to work, my biggest takeaway is that I love working with people. I have always loved a good group project, and my years spent in kitchens have shown me how much I can thrive on a team. Learning how other people work and developing those relationships that allow a seamless workflow motivate me to always expand my skillset so I can be an asset to my teammates. Much of my work experience has been spent cooking, where efficient and clear communication is critical. Cooking also requires an appetite to learn; any restaurant trying to stay ahead today needs to always have at least 1 or 2 new seasonal menu items or risk stagnation. Are these skills only useful in cooking? Did I also maybe get too into the cooking tie-in? Obviously: NO! The communication skills that I have honed working in kitchens and my desire to research have been critical to my success in school and other roles I have had. I look forward to aiming these skills to market research, product development, or some form of consulting sometime in the next few years.
