After graduating with a Bachelor's in biology and neuroscience in 2015, I received my certification as a patient care assistant in order to start working in the healthcare field. I first worked at Cherry Brook Healthcare Center, where I learned my bedside care skills, vital signs monitoring, charting, therapeutic communication, and other aspects of nursing care. From Cherry Brook, I moved to Saint Francis Hospital to further hone my skills in the acute care setting. I worked as a float aide, and so I experienced most of the different units in the hospital, including emergency care, intensive care, cardiology, oncology, orthopedic care, gastroenterology, and others. I have 2+ total years of PCA experience, with 1.5+ years of that in the hospital setting. In January of 2018, I entered into an accelerated nursing program and will graduate with a BSN in December. I am gaining clinical experience on many units, including maternity, pediatrics, acute medical surgical, and psychology. In the future, I plan to earn a master's in nursing as well as a PhD in my other passion, Ecology. I am looking for a position and an employer that will motivate me to be a better student, better healthcare worker, and a better person.
