I have been very interested in computers and statistics for practically my entire life. When I was in Elementary school I remember making lists in Microsoft Word of all the video games I had, DvDs, Pokemon cards, etc. Everything that I collected, I kept inventory of. During this time I also started batch coding on an old Windows XP computer. I was intrigued with the creativity that technology offered as well as it's organization capabilities. I eventually got a better desktop computer in middle school and started to learn the makings of a PC by repairing and updating parts. In high school I ended up building my own and still use it to this day. During high school, I routinely became more of who I am today. I developed a keen interest in psychology, specifically behavior as well as the morality/ethics that go into decisions. This is partly from my AP Psychology course, but mostly influenced by simply observing the actions of those around me. I took what ended up being my favorite class, AP Statistics. I got my first couple jobs. The first at a movie theater, and then at Life Time, which I still work at over breaks. Over my two and a half years at Life Time Fitness I experienced multiple managers, leadership strategies, team members, and working environments. However, during the unstable environment around me I continued to grow, and today I have the position of Supervisor. This position has taught me a lot about leadership, working as a team, managing a crew, dealing with conflict, and much more. These years of experience with these jobs along with a couple high school classes also began to spark my interest in Business.Today, I am enrolled at the University of Minnesota - Duluth. I started as just a major in Psychology. This was until I discovered the Consumer Insights and Analytics program offered at this campus. It was like a match made in heaven. Statistics, computer science, psychology, and business all mashed up into a single major and career? Sign me up! Not only does this field include my 4 main interests, but it also included a lot of skills that I have learned over the years. Such skills include, but are not limited to analytical thinking, decision-making, teamwork, and my personal favorite, creative organization. All this to say I did sign up for this program, and I haven't questioned that decision a single second.I am looking for opportunities in which I can take advantage of my passion, interest, and traits as I plan to create a long and successful career off of them.
