As the Lower School Technology Teacher and Preschool Extended Day Coordinator at Spartanburg Day School, I design and implement dynamic lessons that introduce young learners to foundational technology skills through hands-on activities, coding exercises, and digital creativity tools. My goal is to foster curiosity and critical thinking while preparing students for an increasingly digital world. In my role as Extended Day Coordinator, I oversee after-school programs for preschool students, creating a fun and supportive environment that encourages social development, creativity, and exploration. I collaborate with parents and colleagues to ensure each child’s academic, social, and emotional needs are met.

As a Teacher Assistant, I supported classroom instruction by helping with lesson preparation, providing individualized attention to students, and fostering an engaging learning environment. I assisted teachers in managing classroom activities, facilitating group discussions, and tracking student progress. Through direct interaction with students, I helped clarify concepts, offered encouragement, and ensured that each student received the attention they needed to succeed. My role also involved organizing materials, grading assignments, and communicating with parents. This experience honed my communication, organization, and problem-solving skills while deepening my passion for education and supporting students’ academic growth.

Becoming a mentor was designed to mentor the youth in Spartanburg County. The project was implemented at meeting street academy. I had the opportunity to work with 10 total 5th-grade students at Meeting Street Academy. The project was centered around problem-solving, goal-setting, and team-building. During the 6-weeks each session revolved around each one of the key aspects stated above. For example, each student was given a S.M.A.R.T (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-bound) goal worksheet. The worksheet was centered around their future careers and what they wanted to be. During the session, kids were given a pre-assessment mood chart to score how they were feeling. The same mood chart was displayed after each activity to identify their moods again.
