Electric Machine Control: Lead a team of peers in the design of a field-oriented hardware in the loop (HIL) controller for an advanced permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM). Design process included: specification and procurement of hardware; development of functional requirements, work flow/breakdown, and schedule; design and Simulink code implementation of algorithms, network interfaces, protection schema, data logging systems, and operator interface; prototyping and debugging on a PMSM/motor drive test stand; generation of supporting documentation; and final qualification testing of the system.Power Electronics Testing: Served as lead drive operator in a high power, medium voltage power electronic motor drive test facility. Responsibilities included: training additional operators to use HIL PMSM controller, coordinating with facility operators and data acquisition personnel in the startup and shutdown of experiments, controlling a large PMSM in order to test motor drive, analyzing data to determine success or failure of experiments, performing failure forensics after system faults, and communicating daily operations to management. Also contributed to authoring and analysis for final test reports delivered to customer. Electric Machine Characterization: Designed and carried out experiments to characterize electromechanical behavior of PMSMs. Issued test report and analysis to customer in support of model validation and propulsion system design decision making.
