I am working as a student contractor at the USGS Wetland Aquatic Research Center with the Non-indigenous Aquatic Species database. I am working on a project that involves creating a list of potential invasive species of the Northeast U.S, risk assesing those species, and creating maps of their potential spread due to climate change. I also input data, historical data, both specimen and reference data, into the database.

I manage the foster program at the Humane Society of North Central Florida. There are over 200 active foster homes in this program. I handle scheduling, vet tech appointments (vaccines, blood draws, microchipping, etc.), creating behavior modification plans, and handle any issues or concerns that fosters have while in the program.

I provided care to in-house animals (dogs, cats, and small mammals) at the Humane Society of North Central Florida. In addition to cleaning, feeding, and exercise, I worked on behavior modification and created enrichment plans with dogs and cats. I provided adoption counseling with adopters and behavior counseling with foster parents. I trained volunteers by running classes at different levels of experience. I also gave basic veterinary care to animals including vaccinations, blood draws, and administering oral, eye, ear, and subcutaneous medicine to animals.

I worked under two different PhD students assisting with their field and lab work. The first project was looking at parasitic flatworms that infect ramshorn snails. The field work consisted of collecting snails by dip netting in different bodies of water in Alachua County. The lab work consisted of conducting behavioral assays on the snails, assessing for parasitic flatworm presence using a microscope, and data entry. The second project was looking at prey naivete responses to Burmese pythons in raccoons and hispid cotton rats using giving-up density stations. The field work consisted of checking and setting giving-up density stations throughout Payne's Prairie, setting camera traps, and assessing new field locations for presence of desired species. The lab work was going through camera data and tagging species present. I also began my own project under the graduate students guidance that was looking at sibilingcide in Triton Fishing Spiders in relation to resource availability.
