The main duties of this position include support and installation of all technological items (network equipment, desktop computer, phone systems, projectors, document cameras, printers, voice-amplification systems, streaming video systems) in all district buildings (administrative, elementary, middle, and high school campuses). General tasks include deploying new tech items and softwares as well as clearing old or unused tech (including patch cables from network closets). This can include new technologies never before seen in the classroom, such as the latest model of BenQ Smart Boards.Secondary duties include oversight of district live streaming of events. This encompasses the setup and maintenance of all cameras, microphones, related network equipment and control devices, as well as management of the destination platform (YouTube). At times this does require some oversight of student volunteers. This position also coordinates with project managers and design companies when renovating or overhauling large-scale A/V systems within the district, such as a complete remodel of the high school's broadcast studio. The specialist is expected to be able to interpret the technical needs of the staff and present those needs to administrators in concise terms of what a line item is and why it is needed, balancing technical needs with budgetary limits.Duties also periodically include running FOH positions (lighting, video, and audio) for district events, such as professional development and student assemblies. This work is usually done in conjunction with the director of the performing arts facility.
