My initial experience in chemistry research came during my undergraduate studies at Willamette University under Dr. David Griffith. This analytical research allowed me to gain experience with quantitative analysis of complex mixtures (in this case wastewater) using HPLC and mass spectrometry. I then moved to the University of Wisconsin, Madison for my graduate studies where I joined the group of Prof. Jennifer Schomaker. During my time in this organic research group I have worked in the areas of silver catalyzed nitrene transfer, palladium catalyzed transformations of allenes, and total synthesis. While at UW Madison I have also served as a teaching assistant for several courses. The first two years I taught both undergraduate organic labs and lecture courses. I later served as the TA for the NMR facility in the chemistry department where I helped maintain the instruments and teach graduate and undergraduate students about NMR spectroscopy.
